The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber has named Margie Bailly the 2013 recipient of the Legacy Leader award. The Legacy Leader Award recognizes and emphasizes the important role and contributions of long time local leaders in both shaping and serving The Chamber, metropolitan community and region. Bailly will receive the honor at The Chamber’s Third Annual Meeting on September 12 at the Holiday Inn of Fargo.

A leader in the arts scene in the Fargo Moorhead area, Bailly has worked to transform the downtown Fargo community, developing a rich arts culture and has continued to be a constant champion for area nonprofits. From 1997 to 2011, she served as director of the Fargo Theatre. During her tenure, she oversaw a $3 million renovation of the 85-year old building, established the Fargo Film Festival and opened a second screen to allow for more flexibility in programming.

No stranger to community involvement, Bailly has worked and volunteered for years. She has served as president of the Fargo Moorhead Civic Opera, the Fargo Moorhead Junior League, FirstLink, the Fargo Moorhead Area Foundation Women’s Fund and Fargo Kiwanis. Her Board participation includes the United Way of Cass Clay, the Downtown Business Association, the Fargo Theatre, the Lake Agassiz Arts Council, Gethsemane Episcopal Church and The Chamber.

From 2000 to 2006, she served on The Chamber’s Board of Directors. Ever a champion of nonprofits, Bailly pushed for the addition of a Not-for-Profit of the Year category in the ChamberChoice Awards, which was added in 2006.

Bailly will receive the Legacy Leader Award at The Chamber’s Third Annual Meeting on September 12 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn of Fargo. Cost to attend the luncheon is $35. Register.
